Thanksgiving, a traditional western holiday, is a holiday created by the American people, and it is also a holiday for American families to get together. At the beginning, there was no fixed date for Thanksgiving, which was temporarily determined by each state in the United States. It wasn't until 1863, after the independence of the United States, that President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. In 1941, the U.S. Congress officially designated the fourth Thursday in November as "Thanksgiving Day". The Thanksgiving holiday generally lasts from Thursday to Sunday.
In 1879 the Canadian Parliament proclaimed November 6 a Thanksgiving Day and a national holiday. In subsequent years, the date of Thanksgiving changed many times until January 31, 1957, when the Canadian Parliament proclaimed the second Monday in October as Thanksgiving Day.
In addition to the United States and Canada, there are countries such as Egypt and Greece in the world that have their own unique Thanksgiving.
